Award winning model now taking shape across Australia
Independent awards highlight trust, service and community at Summerset
For older citizens and their families, choosing a retirement village is one of life’s big decisions — and trust, service and a genuine sense of community matter.
Summerset has been recognised across two independent Reader’s Digest awards, being named winner of the Aged Care & Retirement Villages category in the 2026 New Zealand Trusted Brands Awards and overall winner in the retirement villages category of the Reader’s Digest 2027 New Zealand Quality Service Awards.
The recognition reflects the public confidence in Summerset and the importance residents and families place on feeling welcomed, supported and connected in the place they call home.

The Quality Service Awards are based on a survey of New Zealanders across 32 categories and recognise businesses that deliver outstanding service and memorable customer experiences.
Summerset CEO Scott Scoullar said the awards were meaningful because they recognised the everyday experience Summerset aims to create for residents and their families, both in New Zealand and more recently in Australia.
ㅤ
“For residents and their families, trust is everything. People want to know they are choosing a place where they will feel welcome, supported and connected - and where care and help are available if they need them.
ㅤ
“That is what our more than 3,300 team members work hard to provide across our business every day, whether through the care they deliver, the service they provide, or the small moments that help residents feel at home.
ㅤ
“As we grow in Victoria, we’re bringing with us the same award-winning approach to retirement living that has earned the trust of New Zealanders for nearly three decades.
ㅤ
“These awards are a valued acknowledgement of our people and the communities they help create. I’d like to thank everyone across Summerset for the role they play in bringing the best of life to our residents.”
For almost thirty years, Summerset has been creating retirement villages designed to support residents to live well, stay connected and enjoy the reassurance of care and support if their needs change. Today, more than 10,000 residents live across Summerset’s 45 villages across New Zealand and in Victoria, Australia.
