Pets of Summerset - Bella & Jack

It was love at first sight for Jack Russell terriers Bella and Jack who live with Dot and Bob O’Neill at Summerset Cranbourne North. “We had Bella first,” says Dot. “We’d got her from a breeder but soon we wanted some company for her. Jack’s former owner couldn’t give him the attention he needed so Jack joined us two months’ after we got Bella. They adored each other instantly.”

Dot and Bob have had many dogs over the years, but Jack Russell terriers have a special place in their hearts. “They are so lively and full of energy and curiosity,” says Dot. “They have very endearing personalities.”

Bella is a pocket rocket who, despite her petite size, is often the instigator of adventure, while placid Jack is content to follow behind. “Bella leaps at the chance to explore,” explains Dot. “Jack will happily be led by her.” They are both extremely affectionate, and as soon as Bob and Dot sit down, they make their way onto a knee, Bella pausing to grab a toy first. Summerset village life suits them as they both love meeting people.

The young pooches like to spend their day playing and chasing one another around the house and their backyard playground, pausing for grooming breaks where Jack licks Bella all over. “He especially loves to lick her ear,” remarks Dot. “It looks like he’s chewing on it, but Bella doesn’t seem to mind. He just loves being close to her.”

Dot and Bob had the pair for around 14 months before they moved to Summerset Cranbourne North. “We lived in Narre Warren South and had an acre of garden there, so we did wonder how they would settle in,” says Dot. “But they love living here. Bob takes them a long walk in the morning and in the afternoon and they are happy to meet everyone out and about.”

The pair especially love exploring the large park nearby, enjoying the rabbit and other animal scents that can be found there.” It’s heaven for them both, it’s their absolute favourite place to visit. It’s very handy to have the park right opposite!”
